ADVANCED FUNCTIONS GUIDE

This page contains information on the advanced functions offered by the RP3 Rowing Software. For the Quick Start Guide, please follow the link.

RP3 ONLINE

RP3 Online features two major benefits and features to enable you to get more out of your RP3. Firstly it allows you a personalised experience when using the RP3 Rowing App for rowing on the RP3 - particularly useful for RP3s in shared workout environments such as gyms and rowing clubs. The stops your workout list and history from becoming cluttered with those of other people.

RP3 Online also features an online platform which automatically uploads your workouts for review, in-depth analysis, and sharing to Strava.

LOGGING IN & SYNCING WORKOUTS

Getting started with RP3 Online is simple, all you need to do is create an account by logging in on the RP3 Rowing App on the android device you use as a display for your RP3.

To do this just tap on "Login" in the top right corner of the App home screen and either create an account with your email address or login to your existing account.

Once you have logged in, provided you are connected to the internet, the app will automatically upload your "trainings" list to the app allowing you to quickly find any workout you have planned on this or any other device while logged in to your account and the same thing will happen with your workout history. The app will also automatically upload any workout you do while logged in to your online profile to enable you to view and analyse it online or next time you log in.

ANALYSING A WORKOUT

In order to analyse a workout online, you must first either complete the workout while logged in to your account on the RP3 App or have had a workout sent to you via email from the app.

To send a workout to someone via email, just click "email report" on the workout summary from the app.

If you completed the workout while logged in to the app, simply login to your online account on another device (https://rp3rowing-app.com/) and select the workout from the "my workouts" list. Once selected, you will see the following screen with an overall summary and a breakdown of each interval:

By expanding an interval you are able to view a summary of that interval including 500m breakdowns which are not available on the app. You are also able to toggle to "Analyse Strokes" where you can navigate through the workout stroke by stroke on the slider. Particularly useful to evaluate your technique as you become more tired.

CONNECTING TO STRAVA

RP3 Online also allows you to share any workouts you complete directly to your Strava account. This will share as a workout that includes stroke rate, speed/split and heart rate data (if you had a HR monitor connected).

Link your Strava and RP3 Accounts

To get started with Strava integration, firstly you need to connect your Strava account to your RP3 account. To do this, log in to your RP3 account and click on the symbol next to your user name to go to "My Account". Alternatively follow this link:

From the "My Account" screen, scroll down to the "Connect With Strava" panel and follow the onscreen instructions.

Upload a Workout to Strava

RP3 does not automatically upload workouts it records to Strava and instead you must choose which workouts you wish to share. To select a workout to share, simply click on the one you want from the "My Workouts" page, scroll to the bottom of the workout analysis screen and select "Sync Now With Strava". Your workout will then appear on your Strava activity feed.

CONNECTING HEARTRATE

The RP3 App is compatible with all Bluetooth enabled heart rate measurement devices. ANT+ is currently unsupported.

A heart rate measurement device is connected in the same way the RP3 is connected to the display. Simply tap on the “Devices” tab from the app home screen when your heartrate device is discoverable and choose it from the list of devices.

Heartrate is displayed while rowing by simply tapping on the parameter you wish to swap to view heart rate and selecting "Heart Rate" from the list.

Heart rate data will also be available to view in the workout summary and is recorded in stroke-by-stroke data for analysis and syncing to Strava.

SETTING A TARGET POWER CURVE

The power curve is an extremely powerful tool for improving rowing technique and power application. The on-screen curve can be toggled between “Shadow” curves which overlays your current stroke with the previous or “Reference” which allows you to set up a target curve.

To toggle between the curves, simply tap the graph on screen and select the desired display. The reference curve is then set up by inputting values for peak force, rel. peak force pos. and stroke length.

For more information on how to make the most of a reference curve or for guidance on how to set the values for you, check out our coaching and training tips.
